5 simple ways to take care of the environment
World ecology Day is celebrated every year on the first day of November. A date to think about and make everyone aware of the importance of caring for the environment with small gestures. Start by establishing healthy habits for you and your environment. Below, we are going to give you some tips on how to take care of the environment and ideas for personalised ecological products.
Do you want to be a part of the change?
China and the United States top a list of the most polluting countries in the world. However, there are also countries such as Finland, Iceland and Sweden, among others, that are among the greenest countires on the planet. Every year, governments are becoming more and more concerned and aware of global climate change. To measure the performance of countries, the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is calculated. This is a method of quantifying and numerically ranking a country's environmental policy practice.
The United Kingdom is in sixth position on the list of the greenest countries. The study leaves European countries in a very good position, as 17 of the top 20 are from this continent. This is largely due to the implementation of new environmental policies, although it’s not enough. There is still a lot of work to be done and governments need to get serious about reducing pollution. One such measure is the Paris Agreement, signed by 174 countries and the European Union. This agreement was reached in December 2015 and signed in April 2016. It set out short- and long-term environmental measures to be implemented from 2020. The goal is to bring global temperatures below pre-industrial levels by 2100. A task in which they must start working now, and in which we can all take part, helping with small gestures.
Change your habits
The deterioration of the ozone layer and global warming are just some of the most problematic environmental issues today. We are all part of the problem and part of the solution. This means being aware of the situation and trying to change it with small gestures in our daily lives. It is also essential to raise awareness among children, so that they will acquire this commitment and will have assimilated it when they grow up. Experts in the field point out the importance of global awareness, so we wanted to compile five small gestures that you can introduce in your daily life:
